Review Policy
What makes a review welcome on OctaPages, what gets removed, and how we keep reviews honest. Based on the principles of the Indian standard for online consumer reviews (IS 19000:2022).
Last updated: 30 September 2026
1. Who can write a review
Anyone with a verified email or phone number who has dealt with the business. One review per person per business; you can edit yours at any time.
Owners, staff and people acting for a business can't review it, and must not review its competitors.
2. What a good review looks like
- It describes your own, first-hand experience.
- It's honest, specific and fair, and the rating matches the text.
- It's about the business, not about individual staff members' private lives.
3. What we remove
- Reviews that were paid for, rewarded (with discounts, gifts or cashback) or written in exchange for anything.
- Fake reviews, reviews written for someone else, or several reviews from one person under different accounts.
- Personal data (phone numbers, addresses of individuals), threats, hate speech, obscenity, or advertising.
- Content that is unlawful or prohibited under the IT Rules, 2021.
4. How we moderate
Reviews from very new accounts, and reviews that match patterns of fake reviews, are held for our team to check before they appear. Anyone can report a review; our team decides and, if we remove it, tells the author why.
We never remove a review because a business asked us to, and we never let payment influence which reviews appear, their order, or the rating.
5. Business replies
Businesses can post one public reply to each review. Replies follow the same rules as reviews.
6. How ratings are calculated
A listing's rating is the average of its published reviews. When results are sorted by rating, listings with few reviews are weighted towards a neutral score, so a single review can't outrank many.
Concerns about a review: report it from the listing page or write to [email protected].
